9th August 2011  Rhys has been named as meeting reserve for the four team tournament at Plymouth on 19th August 2011 tapes up 19:30

1st August 2011  Rhys had another really good day at Sittingbourne yesterday and in his words:- 1st race - Started off perfectly, gated 2nd behind Ross Walter and i think we exchanged places 2 or 3 times during the race, very very close racing, leaning on each other and im sure there was contact at least twice haa, but eventually i got my nose infront and won by about a bikes length! Loved it! 2nd race - bit of a disaster at the 1st bend.. gated 3rd behind Rikki Mullins and Mark Bibby.. Bibby clamped me very hard on 1st bend, I had to lock the bike up to miss him, scrubbed off all my speed and couldnt get anywhere near the front 2.. came 3rd. 3rd race - partnered Rhys Naylor and we got a 5-1 he was a comfortable 1st and I had to hold on tight for first couple laps to keep Ross Walter behind, but pulled away in the end.. 2nd plus bonus. 4th race - Alex McLeod has improved massively! His gating was unbelievable all day! I was winding up speed for 1st 3 laps, and went to steam up the inside on last lap, but he held his line superbly, I got too close and had to lock it up again to miss his back wheel, went backwards into the dust and that was that.. 2nd again. 5th race - Alex McLeod again gated like only god knows what! I got stuck behind Mark Baldock in 3rd but went around the outside of him on the 2nd lap, but after being stuck behind him for too long didnt have time to put any pressure on Alex although did catch him a bit. 2nd again.. 3,1,2*,2,2 = 10+1 from 5 rides.. and my team won 49-43 Although I only had 1 race win yesterday, for the "entertainment factor, all action race style and more importantly attitude around the pits" I won rider of the day in my group! so all in all a very good day, i am well happy with that !

9th June 2011  Rhys has decided not to contest the remaining rounds on the Newport Summer Series, following the cancellation of the previous 3 rounds and the doubt surrounding the remaining fixtures. Instead Rhys will make his first visit to Stoke to compete in an evening amateur meeting on the 18th June. He will now look for additional dates at various tracks to bolster his schedule.

6th June 2011  Rhys rode extremely well yesterday and was unfortunate not to be on the podium, eventually finishing the meeting in 4th place. He was lying in 3rd place overall and needed a win in his last ride to make it a certainty. However, he managed only 2nd behind place behind the meeting runner up Trevor Heath. Rhys did manage to finished the heat ahead of Paul Quaterman (eventually 5th) to put the 3rd podium place in the hands of Mark Baldock. Mark had to win his last ride to take 3rd overall, and did so. Rhys was delighted with his achievement and can't wait until his next outing. His scores were 1,3,2,3,2 (11 from 5 rides).

30th May 2011  Rhys has decided not to contest the 3rd round of the Newport Summer Series this weekend but will instead ride in a Dragons Individual meeting at Sittingbourne.

23rd May 2011  Rhys was again dissapointed to hear that the 2nd round of the summer series was cancelled due to lack of medical cover. Although it was announced that 8 riders would be in Rhys' class. Hopefully round 3 will fair better in 2 weeks time.

8th May 2011  Rhys was dissapointed to hear that the 1st round of the summer series was cancelled due to the weather. Although it was announced that only 4 other riders would be in Rhys' class. Hopefully more riders will step in for the next round in 2 weeks time.

4th May 2011  Rhys competed in the Dragons team challenge at Sittingbourne on Sunday. His team ran out winners in a last heat decider where Rhys led his partner Rhys Naylor home to secure a 5 - 1 to run out winners 56 - 52. Rhys was particularly pleased with his performance and said it was his best days racing so far in his career. Rhys scored 2,2*,2*,2,3,0,3 = 14 and 2 bonus points. His attentions now turn to next Sunday 11:00 when he lines up at Newport in the 1st round of the Summer Series

26th April 2011  Rhys has confirmed his entry to the Newport Summer Series. It will be held over 6 rounds in May, June, July an August (See Fixtures / Results). During the series riders will be chosen to take part in special second half races at main Newport meetings. Rhys will be hoping to impress and therefore be selected for the second halves by picking up as many points as possible.

18th April 2011  Rhys had a good day yesterday at Sittingbourne, he took part in a 5 man team event. He was called upon to take 6 rides for his team contributing 11 points to his teams total of 43 against their opponents score of 40. Rhys scored 3,2,1,2,1,2 = 11 and 0 bonus points. Rhys put in his best performance at Sittingbourne and has well and truely shacken off the winter cobwebs. He is now busy preparing for the next visit to Sittingbourne with the Dragons in 2 weeks time on 1st May.

11th April 2011  After a closed season that saw very little track action for Rhys with the Winter Series at Newport being constantly postponed and eventually cancelled. Rhys' season will get underway on Sunday at Sittingbourne when he takes part in a Dragons Individual meeting to start at 12:00. Rhys has however used the time to fully prepare his bike, and cannot wait to get back to the start line.

4th December 2010  The 1st round of the winter series has fallen victim to the weather. The next round is scheduled for the 18th December.

28th November 2010  Rhys will be taking part in the 6 round winter series which is being held at Newport. The 1st round is scheduled for the 4th of December with the 2nd round on the 18th and then the 3rd round will be held in January.

28th August 2010  Rhys finally made his National League debut at the St. Boniface Arena last night but not for Plymouth. He was drafted in as number 7 for the Buxton Hitmen as a late replacement for Jason Garrity against the Plymouth Devils. Rhys took 3 programmed rides but failed to score a point in a meeting where Plymouth ran out winners 57 - 36.

26th July 2010  Rhys was taking part in the Credit Crunch 1st Leg held by the Dragons Speedway club at Sittingbourne on Sunday. Unfortunately he was replaced in his 4th ride but still took his 5th ride. He helped his team to a 54 - 54 draw by scoring 5 points and 2 bonus from his 4 rides (2,1,1,1). The second leg is on September 19th when Rhys hopes to chip in a few more points and help his team win on aggregate.

8th July 2010  Rhys apologises for lack of news recently but not much has been happening other than his regular 2nd half rides at Plymouth. But there is now some real news ! Rhys will be taking part in the Dragons Speedway Credit Crunch team event. It is run over 2 legs at Sittingbourne and sees 3 meetings taking place alongside each other so over 50 heats of racing. The dates are Sunday 25th July and Sunday 19th September. Rhys will again be riding in the top class and will therefore be riding alongside some riders who have National League experience.

18th May 2010  Rhys has had a frustrating few weeks. Either there has been a lack of time to ride or a sticking throttle causing him to bail off in the 3rd turn. However, he did act as Buxton's number 8 for their visit to the SBA and last friday he was delighted to wear the Devils number 8 jacket despite not getting a ride. On Saturday there was some practise at the SBA which saw Matt Bates, David Gough and Rhys all getting as much track time as they wanted. Mark Webster (Tim's Dad) was there lending a hand and Rhys would like to thank Mark for all of the help and support that he gave on track. Another big improvement for Rhys. (Roll on Friday)

4th May 2010  Rhys appeared in the Dragons Speedway meeting yesterday at Newport. It was originally billed as an individual event but was changed to a team event. Rhys' team won the meeting 53-44 with Rhys contributing 9 points from his 5 rides. (0,3,2,2,2,)
1st race, toughest rach of the day against Chris Widman (Kings Lynn), Daryll Ritchings (Dudley) and Jon Stevens.. unfortunately i was muscled out in the 1st turn and couldnt really do much from there, i needed one more lap and would have surely got 3rd, but there are only 4 laps and i didnt quite get there so a bad start in coming last
2nd race, was right up Alex McLeod's exhaust pipe and he fell right infront of me, i managed to miss him and went on to win the race by a comfortable distance
3rd race, against Widman again, no chance of getting near him, comfortable 2nd..
4th race, de ja vu of 3rd race..
5th race, Widman for the 4th time in 5 races, argh! didnt even bother chasing him, just decided to have some fun and try some team riding lol guided my team mate around to pack in the minor placings.

12th April 2010  Rhys appeared in the British Under 21 Qualifying round at Plymouth Last Friday scoring 2 points from his 4 qualification rides and this is what he had to say:-
Quote "It was a great night for me, I wasn't expecting anything against this type of opposition but, I scored 2 points from 4 rides and this is an achievement for me. The way things have been going lately I was just glad to stay on for 4 rides! A ding dong battle with Alex McLeod in heat 7 for 3rd proved to me that I can race under pressure and thrive on it! Once again I would like to say to all of my family, some of the riders and quite a few people involved with Plymouth speedway a massive thank you for your help and support. You know who you are :o)" Heat Details here

4th April 2010  Rhys was delighted with his two rides after the Plymouth Vs American Dream Team on Friday night. And has now declared himself fit and ready for the Under 21's on Friday 9th. Rhys has been drawn as number 3 in what is now a 13 man individual event. Rhys knows that he won't win on the night, he is just looking to gain valuable experience and who knows he may pick up a point or 2!

3rd April 2010  Stoke has been washed out so no racing this weekend!

29th March 2010  Rhys was extremely disappointed on Saturday at the Plymouth Press and Practise session. Falling in the 4th Bend and hurting his right elbow, which meant no further rides and no chance to impress for the number 8 spot. Both rider and bike sustained some damage. Rhys spent the afternoon in Derriford hospital fearing he had chipped a bone in his elbow, but after x-rays it was eventually diagnosed as severe bruising. He should make a quick recovery and still has a chance to impress on April 9th in the Under 21's, the bike however needs a new footrest and clutch lever and a bit of straightening!

22nd March 2010  Rhys was disappointed on Saturday when the training session was cancelled due to the weather, but he made up for it by going to Newport on the Sunday to watch the Newport Legends v Newport. He has also confirmed that he will take part in the Individual meeting at Stoke as that also fell victim to the weather and is now re-scheduled for Sunday 4th April

15th March 2010  Rhys is delighted to have been selected to ride in the British Under 21 qualification round at Plymouth on the 9th April 2010 the other 11 riders in the 12 man format are (in alphabetical order):- Matthew Bates, Josh Dingle, Trevor Heath, Kyle Hughes, Gary Irving, Kyle Newman, Jamie Pickard, James Sarjeant, Paul Starke, Timothy Webster, Thomas Young

5th March 2010  Rhys will be racing in the Dragons Individual Speedway meeting at Newport on Bank Holiday Monday the 3rd of May 2010. This will be a good chance for him to gauge his improvement since he last rode a dragons meeting at Newport where scored 8 points from his 5 rides (1,2,3,F,2). The meeting was won by Tom Young with Shane Hazelden 2nd and Alex McLeod 3rd

10th February 2010 Stoke has been postponed due to the weather, it has been re-staged for the 21st March but Rhys isn't sure if he will be able to ride on the new date as he has Plymouth on both Saturdays either side of that date.

9th February 2010 Rhys has come through some very difficult training sessions at Weymouth and is now very much focused on the Stoke meeting this coming weekend. Scunthorpes Scott Richardson has been added to the Open class but the news from Stoke is that it is 50/50 wether it will happen as it snowed on the track last night.

25th January 2010 Stoke have announced 2 more riders for the Open Class in the meeting on 14th February. They are:- Jake Knight, and Plymouth Devil Paul Starke. Glyn Edwards is no longer listed in the Open class but is now in the Intermediate class

They are:- Glyn Edwards, James White-Williams, Adam Wrathall, Josh Pickering, Chris Widman, Tom Perry, Luke Chessell, Rhys Hooper, Stevie Worrall, Ashley Birks, Jordan Tyrer

13th January 2010 Change in Rhys' plans - he may now attend the training session at Weymouth on 23rd January, if he does then he will not be attending Newport on the 24th.

10th January 2010 Rhys has been accepted into the Amatuer meeting at Stoke on 14th February 2010. This will be a good test for him against riders with National League experience. Riders such as Jamie White-Williams (Newport) and Adam Wrathall (Scunthorpe), also Chris Widman and Luke Chessell

3rd January 2010 Rhys was at Newport watching the New Year Classic

2nd January 2010 Weymouths Training Day.
Rhys had a decent day at Weymouth today, unfortunately due to the weather he didnt have as many rides as he would have like and the track was not the best. However Rhys put in a couple decent rides and was happy with his first time back on a bike since the end of the season. All in all, other than the car breaking down on the way home, Rhys had a good day and cant wait to ride again in a couple of weeks.

25th December 2009 Rhys has planned his Winter Training and he intends to be riding at Weymouth, Newport and Rye House along with any sessions held at Plymouth prior to the start of the National League season
